Radical Sportscars have come a long way very quickly

In 1996, a couple of engineers, Mick Hyde and Phil Abbott decided to put a superbike engine into a sportscar. Within a year, the boys had built two cars and won their first race at Pembrey, UK.

Now Radical’s team of 80 staff design build, test and develop every new car at their Peterborough factory. There are six sportscars in the Radical range and the Radical racecar series is internationally renowned and enjoyed.

How did they do it? They just started winning

In January 1997 Mick and Phil formed Radical Motorsport Ltd and put ten Radicals on the grid in a Radical class within the 750 Motor Club Sports 2000 series and came first and second.

Evo magazine’s Trackday car of the Year

By 2000, Radical was producing some of the most exciting one-make racing cars in the UK, orders flooded in from around the world. Radical introduced the super quick SR3 and then the SR4, both of which now could carry a passenger, making them ideal for trackdays and attracting many prestigious awards including Evo magazine’s Trackday car of the Year. During 2003, the SR3 was sold into eighteen countries. This spurned a multitude of race series internationally including in the US, South America, South Africa, Malaysia, Bahrain and several countries in Europe.

The staggering SR8 smashes the production car lap record

In 2004, Radical went on to create the fastest one-make sportscar race series the world has ever seen with the introduction of the staggering SR8. The SR8 set outright lap records at Cadwell Park and the re-profiled Brands Hatch GP track, before smashing the production car lap record at the Nordschleife Nürburgring, with the first ever sub-seven minute lap.

Exclusive Australian Distributorship

In 2008 Radical Australia was appointed as the exclusive Australian distributors. They offer sales, spare parts and a first class logistical service to owners, plus their unique RaceCraft programme.
